Are you rich, poor, in between or super-rich? No matter which category you belong to, you are at the mercy of the ‘law of scarcity’. The belief of being deprived, isn’t only a human attribute, it is experienced by every living being. Differences as to how deficiency is experienced, depend on the group one belongs to. Human mindsets like gilt, shame, insecurities of all forms are also parts of ‘law of scarcity’.
Before I analyze the perception of scarcity of specific groups, and I’m not an expert in this by any means, I will express my prospective in short, of how the ‘law of scarcity’ came about and developed throughout history. At the down of civilization, basic needs as such, brought about evolution of the human species. Population growth created shortage in life necessities like water, food, shelter, and tools. High demand paired with low supply meant scarcity. Tribal combats were fought for survival and material goods, for the community, then down to the family and ultimately for the individual. High concentration of goods meant safety, control, stability, a considerable advantage and power over other layers of society. Within this layer, the wealthiest individuals had become leaders and everyone else were servants of all type.
Being rich is not a natural state as is not being a servant, yet here we are. So let’s be clear, in this case history didn’t repeat itself, it just continued to the present days. One would think that we, as intelligent beings, at last concurred differences of wealth between the layers of society, since we instituted a full proof tool, specifically for this purpose ‘democracy’. Democracy in our days outlived its usefulness, because it doesn’t do what it was conceived for. It became an empty word, an impenetrable wall the rich can hide behind, like in a fortress, and everybody outside the wall is dispensable, as it always was. Does this mean that democracy doesn’t exist? Of course not, except for the fact, that it is now divided in in two, one for the rich and one for the poor. Yet if it wasn’t for the poor, rich would not exist. The role of implementation of the so called ‘democracy’ belongs to governments, to level the field amongst the layers. Do they do that? The answer is NO! They are not in the business of ‘leveling fields’. On the other hand, the rich don’t need government, they are the government! Sadly our modern day governments are instruments invented for the poor and its role is diminished to the extent of mere mediation, moderation and peace keeping between classes to prevent confrontation. Does this make sense to you? Is this a good thing…and where this will take us…I don’t know?
Being rich is not necessarily a bad thing, but being poor is. Leveling the field doesn’t mean to make everyone poor, instead sharing wealth would make everyone rich. If you think about the fact that a very small percentage of the earth’s population owns most of the wealth, evenly shared, in my opinion, would make everyone on the planet ‘millionaires’! Would that mean a complete halt of economy, because it will stop everyone from working? I think NOT!
The laws of scarcity in rich people manifests itself in a strange way. It is an unhealthy condition of the mind, which says that having a lot is not enough. It is a hoarder mentality that is recognized amongst poor people as well, with the exception that in rich people is pertained to owning wealth. They are convinced that they are more deserving than anybody else, it is their god given privilege and is theirs to keep. In their beliefs they work very hard for their money, poor people are just plain lazy, sharing would be a waste, and that poverty is just simply lack of good money management. They live in a self-contained bobble, most are out of touch with reality, oblivious to other people’s struggles, and they believe that without their money they would be nobody. Talk about bad money management…some of their spending habits are outrageous.
Poor people’s debt is the lifeline for the wealth of the rich. Free hand in ‘granting’ individuals ‘maximum credit’ and ‘long term mortgages’ is how rich ensure a continuous source of ‘income’. Having a job guaranties to stay poor and be indebted for life. Unending fight to balance income and debt is an everyday, bitter reality for those lazy workers. Working class doesn’t want to unnecessarily buy yet another expensive collectible car! They want to pay off their mortgage and live a decent, honest life, free of constant struggle. Is that too much to ask? Only the working ‘modern slaves’ need and are forced to buy life, health, house and car insurance, because their income wouldn’t cover that. Isn’t that another fat cat industry? The rich can pay these from their swimsuit pocket. You hear this on TV: ‘start early to save for your retirement’. Save from what…minimum wage? This is to say to the young to do without even more money, that loses value on the long run and end up dying poor anyway!
Let’s face it, the majority of population is poor, and middle class disappears at an alarming rate, or is nonexistent.
So, here is my argument for everyone being ‘wealthy’ and having a strong economy! First and foremost ‘democracy’ needs a drastic overhaul! Power has to be given back to real leaders in applying the ideology of democracy laid down by our forefathers. Government leaders are to be chosen from the most numerous cast of society, stable and trustworthy, to apply the most important rule: ‘from the people for the people’. Laws are to be reinstated according to the values of ‘equality’, which imply no major differences in wealth that will ensure stability. Do away with the ‘loan shark’ mentality of lenders, for starters, and get rid of credit vehicles all together on the long run. There is no need for the legalized exchange of funds the rich use on the stock market, which allows trading the poor’s debt for high profits. Emphasis must be given to ‘equal pay for equal work’ among genders and to the implementation of ‘one bread winner’ families. Minimum and maximum wages one can receive, must be established and allocated pertaining to the job, rank, hazard, education and so on. Minimum wages should never allow the necessity for loans, as maximums should not allow for ridiculous spending. Profit sharing should be government handled and redistributed to industries on a percentage basis, contingent on viability, relevance, according to its contribution to the country’s economy and never applied to wages of leading individuals.
The correlation of quantity, quality and wealth is well documented. High standards of quality will dictate steady and even quantity, which easily takes care of natural selection of ill performing industries, thus minimizing waist. Strong industries based on quality production, well paid workers mean wealthy society and less super-rich individuals.
For starters, in my humble opinion, the transition to a real and fair democracy should be smooth without the rich being forced to suddenly give up their enormous wealth. Instead I would ‘ask’ them, with a legislation of course, to give some back to the poor by paying off each month, the debt of a working family, completely. This legislation would stand until no family or person exists with debt, except for the ones incurred as a result of gambling.
Wouldn’t you think that, when you have money you spend more? Isn’t movement of currency the idea of a strong economy? Inability of the masses to spend is the trigger of recessions. Governments have to step in, take control, curve and regulate the flow of money for the desired effect. Do you think this is possible? Would we be able to change this far-gone, mismanaged, high jacked by the rich state of democracy? Certainly YES! Reject the possibility of wealthy, dishonest candidates to even run for any office in your government in the first place. Do we continue to be part of the world of beggars? Why is this desire to believe in one who obviously lies promises in our face and ignore the one who is telling the truth? It beats me!
Don’t be a beggar, we have a say!
