The Truth About Lies

A lie is a lie is a lie...ain't that the truth.
There isn't anybody on this planet who never lied in his/her life...ever. Does this mean that life without lies is impossible? Of course not. Lies existed since the dawn of civilization, and human is the only species, that uses it to its advantage, or detriment.
So why do we do it anyway? The only purpose of a lie is to deceive, or to conceal reality, and reality is truth. Solely 'intelligent' beings are capable of this, because any other entity can only deceive but not lie. Humans are able to both lie, and deceive. Animals, and even plants, can only deceive, but they only resort to it to hunt or to survive, and so on.
So what is this infatuation with distorting reality, or truth for that matter. It is the allure of temporary gain of superiority over another entity? The hope of diminishing, destroying truth and marching triumphantly into eternity? You silly...you thought you can destroy reality? I don't know, but one thing I can tell you is, according to my observations and experience, that a lie has an intricate anatomy! Yes I sad anatomy, because lies have a life and death of their own.  But lies cannot survive without a perpetrator. First to utter the lie convincingly (it needs some effort, skill and imagination!!), and after, to maintain it in good standing. Lies do need serious maintenance, believe me, because they simply cannot stand alone. How...you may ask? Well...with more lies. Lies help each other to survive, but no matter how many millions of people maintain the same lie, a lie will never become true.
Now here is a twist. You can lie to yourself or to somebody else, to a country and to the whole world. To lie to yourself is the most detrimental to one's sole, because, to work, it requires total belief, relinquishing the need to know truth, and  the result is personality distortion. What you believe is what you are! A lie needs someone to utter it, and an ear willing to believe what it hears. Thus is the birth of a lie and it's death occurs when it faces truth. Simple as that! There are liars and LIARS. I distinguished several categories of liars: stupid, clever, pathological, and psychopaths.
The stupid or petty liar lies, and in most cases forgets when, to whom, and what he lied about. They are the harmless ones, because in a short time they become predictable, unreliable, shallow personalities in everyone's eyes. They lie just about anything: identity, status, success, appearance etc.
Clever liars do remember when they lied, to whom and about what. Their lies live longer and achieve more credibility, because they are deliberate, well thought out with some logical elements and they have a specific objective.
Pathological liars will lie all the time, about anything whether a lie is, or not needed. Their world is an up side down world and they believe, that truth is not good enough. They simply cannot utter truth. This condition comes with an important symptom we all have to look out for:  the inability to say the words "Yes" or "No". They don't take clear sides, they are on the fence. This is a clear sign of an instinctive built in safety mechanism, so they can reverse the polarity of their lie to prove they are 'right' and avoid revelation.
Psychopaths are the most dangerous kind. They are both clever and pathological. They are the masters of lies, deception, manipulation, blackmail, bullying and torture. Charming, sleek and most often attractive figure. So look out for these qualities and if possible steer clear. They are capable of doing grate things but commit murder just as well.
Is there escape from the jungle of lies? Yes, there is. Don't be the ear that listens. Don't just believe everything you been told. Be vigilant and listen to your first instinct. You will have a strange feeling in your gut that tells you, -this is not right- and that is your clue. It is not what people do, it is what you let them do to you that hurts. But that is what you can have control over! Lies have no place in your world of reality! All lies vanish when truth is on the horizon. Look for truth and reality, and you'll find it!
